Window Seat Banner

Sydney journal: Day one

Day one in Sydney was mostly spent in bars and coffee shops waiting for the keys to our airbnb apartment. Our apartment is awesome; right on the beach front with a great view. I can sit on the window seat and watch the world go by.

We ate dinner at a great BYO restaurant called Bangkok Bites. There's a lot to choose from on the menu. Inside is rather trendy with exposed brick walls and mismatched chairs and stools. There's an open kitchen, which I love love love, so you can see how it's done. There were 9 chefs in the kitchen, which seemed like a lot. The food came very quickly and the turnover of customers was fast, which must be down to having plenty of chefs. I can see why they do that. People were literally queuing outside to get a table. I'd recommend trying the Buddy Bites Noodles and Salmon Choo Chee.

We're living out of suitcases for the next few weeks until we find somewhere to live. We're lucky to have the opportunity to try out some areas before we commit, but moving around with suitcases feels a lot like being on holiday. I'm not sure if my head has fully accepted that we're not going home for a very long time. I'm also struggling to eat and sleep at the 'right' times. Stupid jet lag.
