Day notes: Homebrew website club
This evening we had Homebrew website club at 68 Middle Street. It takes place every other Wednesday from 6pm - 7:30pm. An hour and half seems like a very short time and it is, I suppose, but actually it's already becoming more valuable than I thought it would.
I usually turn up with an idea of what I want to achieve and I don't usually finish it, but it inspires me to keep going. This week I wanted to clean up the CMS sections and entries on my website—an incredibly boring job—but it had to be done at some point. Last night I finished what I wanted to and decided to carry on when I got home. I ended up going further than I planned and gave my site a bit of a visual refresh and I'm pleased with it.
Committing to an hour and a half every fortnight means that I start something or finish something each month, no matter how small. I struggle for time and if I hadn't been to Homebrew website club, I may not have made any improvements to my site this week. What's great is that once I get started I don't want to stop, so I take my laptop home (or to the pub) and keep going.
Today's lesson: Don't underestimate the difference an hour and a half can make. The next meet up is on Wednesday 9th September at 6pm.
